Great tips. Letting the employee know the job description when offered the job is a good idea just like acknowledging and recognizing the employee when the job is being done right and when the employee goes above & beyond the job duties. Also a monetary increase doesn’t hurt either.

Very true, especially the part about giving token gifts. Personalized gifts tell an employee that you recognize him not as “human resource” but as an individual.
